What is a merit in a UK Masters?
Sixty percent, weighted across your modules. Fifty is a pass and seventy is a distinction, the bands used across UK universities under the QAA quality framework. Undergraduate readers can read the same three lines as 2:2, 2:1 and First Class.
Are all modules weighted equally?

Aim one band down and finish strong. A solid merit beats a collapsed distinction chase, and employers read finished degrees, not private heartbreak.
Can I use it for undergraduate degrees?
Yes. Enter your module weights and marks the same way, and read the three bands as a 2:2 at fifty, a 2:1 at sixty and First Class at seventy. One caution: many universities weight second and final year differently, so check your handbook for the exact split before you plan.
Does a 68 or 69 round up?
Sometimes, and never by right. Some universities apply borderline rules close to a boundary, many do not round at all. Treat 70 as 70 and fight for the real number, because nobody should budget their degree on mercy.
