How to Upload Your NECO Result to JAMB CAPS in 2026, From Your Phone

Your NECO result can be good enough for your course and still count for nothing, if the school can’t see it on JAMB CAPS.

That’s not us being dramatic. When UNILAG set its O’level deadline in August, the notice said candidates whose results were not properly reflected on CAPS by that date would not be considered for admission. Not moved down the list. Not considered.

You may be thinking you’ll just show the school your printout at screening. The admission officer isn’t looking at your printout, they’re looking at CAPS, and CAPS only shows what has been uploaded to it.

Why the result on your phone isn’t enough

NECO released the 2026 SSCE results on Thursday, 24 September. The council said 1,371,992 candidates sat the exam and 804,948 of them, 58.67 percent, got five credits and above including English and Mathematics.

If you are one of them, well done, and if you applied this year with awaiting result, this is the result your admission has been waiting on. But the result sitting on the NECO portal and the result sitting on your JAMB profile are two different things, and only the second one is what a school sees when it runs admissions on CAPS. Nobody at NECO will upload NECO result to JAMB on your behalf. That part is on you. If you haven’t checked your result yet, our guide on how to check your NECO result 2026 comes first.

The two ways to upload NECO result to JAMB

For years the only way was to go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre and let the operator type your grades in for you. That route is where most of the wrong grades and missing subjects came from, because you were trusting a stranger’s typing with your admission.

On 24 August 2026 JAMB announced a second way you can do from home. You buy a verification code, the code pulls your result straight from the exam body’s own record, and a text message sends it to your profile. JAMB said it was starting with WAEC. The platform that sells the code now lists NECO, NABTEB and NBAIS as well, so NECO candidates should be able to use it this week.

Use the home route if it works for your exam number. Go to the CBT centre only if it doesn’t.

How to upload NECO result to JAMB from your phone

This is the order JAMB gave in its statement, reported by Vanguard on 24 August. Have your NIN, your NECO exam number and the phone you’ll text from beside you before you start.

  1. Go to buyresultsverificationcode.ng.
  2. Enter your NIN and click Verify NIN.
  3. Choose how many sittings you are using, then choose NECO as the exam body. If you’re combining NECO with WAEC, choose both.
  4. Enter your email address and phone number, then pay with your card or by bank transfer. The amount shows on the page before you pay.
  5. Enter your examination number, the examination series and the year, 2026. The NECO SSCE you just got is the Internal series, the June and July one.
  6. Collect the verification code the platform gives you.
  7. Text VERIFY, a space, then the code, to 55019 or 66019.
  8. Wait for JAMB’s notification that the result has been uploaded to your profile.

If you are using two sittings

A lot of candidates are, because the NECO result is covering the subject they failed in WAEC. There is one more step after the text message.

  1. Log into your JAMB e-Facility profile at efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
  2. Click 2026 UTME O’Level Upload.
  3. Enter the verification code.
  4. Select the subjects and grades your course needs. JAMB says a minimum of five and a maximum of nine, and no subject twice.
  5. Click Apply the O’Level Results.

Pick the subjects your course actually asks for, not just the five best grades. If your course needs Biology and you left it out because Economics looked nicer, the school will read that as a missing subject.

Check that it actually landed on CAPS

Don’t trust the text message alone. However you chose to upload NECO result to JAMB, check it yourself, today, while you still remember which code you used.

  1. Log into efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
  2. Go to Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS.
  3. Open My O’Level.

If you see every subject and every grade exactly as they are on your NECO result, you’re done. A blank page or “No Data Retrieved” means nothing has landed yet, and a single wrong grade means somebody or something typed it wrong. Either way you fix it now, not after the admission list comes out. Once it’s there, this guide explains what each CAPS status means.

What candidates do, and what to do instead

What candidates do: pay the cybercafe to “upload everything” and go home without checking.

Do this instead: use the home route yourself where you can, and if a centre does it for you, open My O’Level on CAPS before you leave the centre.

What candidates do: upload only to the school portal because the school asked for it there.

Do this instead: do both. UNILAG’s notice asked for the result on JAMB CAPS and on its own portal, and many schools work the same way.

What candidates do: wait for the admission list to find out whether the upload worked.

Do this instead: check My O’Level this week. A missing result found today is a small fix. Found after the list, it’s a lost year.

What we could not confirm

We couldn’t confirm from JAMB itself that the home route is live for every NECO 2026 candidate. JAMB’s own August statement named WAEC first. A report from Campus Reports on 24 September says JAMB switched it on for NECO the same day the results came out, and the verification platform lists NECO, but we haven’t seen JAMB’s statement on it. So try it. If your NECO number won’t verify, the CBT centre is still the way.

We also won’t quote a price for the verification code, because JAMB didn’t publish one in anything we checked, and the platform works out the amount from what you select. And we can’t give you one O’level deadline, because each school sets its own. Watch your school’s portal. If you already have an offer on CAPS, the separate JAMB deadline for old offers from 2021 to 2025 is now Monday 30 November 2026, and our post on the JAMB acceptance deadline covers it.

After that, the next thing on your list is the documents your university will ask for at fresher clearance, and the O’level result is right at the top of it.

Result don come out, no let am just siddon for your phone o.
