JAMB CAPS 2026: How to Accept Your Admission and What to Do Next

Have you logged into your CAPS today? If you have an admission sitting there and you have not checked, you can lose it without even knowing. Omor, it happens every single year.

This is the part of admission season that quietly decides everything. You wrote UTME, you printed your result slip, maybe you have done your Post-UTME. Now the real action moves to one place: JAMB CAPS 2026. This is where your admission is offered, and where you must reply. If you sleep on it, somebody else takes your space.

What JAMB CAPS 2026 actually is

CAPS means the Central Admissions Processing System. It is the official platform JAMB uses to process every admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. You can read JAMB’s own explanation on the official CAPS page.

Here is the part many candidates do not understand. Your school can recommend you for admission, but the offer is not final until it shows on CAPS and you accept it there. No CAPS, no admission. Na so e be.

So when uncle and aunty are calling you that “they have admitted you”, smile and say thank you, then go and confirm it yourself on JAMB CAPS 2026. The system is the only thing that counts.

How to check your admission status the right way

You check CAPS through your JAMB profile. Do not use any agent or “connection” person for this. It is free and you can do it yourself on your phone.

Log in at the JAMB e-facility portal (efacility.jamb.gov.ng) with the email and password you used during registration. Once you are in, look for the Check Admission Status or CAPS option.

If you cannot remember your details, do not start guessing fifty times. Use the password reset, or walk into any JAMB office or accredited CBT centre near you with your registration number. Better to sort it calmly than to lock yourself out.

Make checking a habit. During this period, look at your status every two or three days. Admissions drop in batches, and yours can show up any day.

How to accept your admission on CAPS

When an offer shows on your dashboard, you will see two options: Accept or Reject.

If this is the course and school you want, click Accept and confirm. That is the moment your admission becomes real. After accepting, you can go ahead and print your JAMB admission letter.

If the system offers you a different course from the one you applied for, pause and think well. You can still accept if you are happy to study it, because a second admission is never guaranteed. But if you truly do not want it, you may reject and wait. Just know the risk you are taking.

Whatever you decide on JAMB CAPS 2026, do not leave the offer hanging. An offer you ignore can be withdrawn and given to the next person on the list.

What to do if CAPS still says “Not Admitted”

If your status reads “Not Admitted” or “In Admission Processing”, abeg do not panic and do not cry. It does not mean game over.

• Your O level result (WAEC, NECO, or both)
• Your original UTME result slip
• Your birth certificate or declaration of age
• Passport photographs on a plain background
• Your Post-UTME or screening printout

Every year, good candidates lose admission to small, avoidable mistakes. Do not be one of them.

The first mistake is not checking CAPS at all because somebody told them “the school has not started”. The second is giving login details to a stranger who then changes the information. The third is rejecting an offer in anger without understanding what they are doing.

One more thing. Make sure JAMB and your school have the same details for you, especially your name spelling and your course choice. A mismatch can delay everything.

After you accept, what next

Accepting on CAPS is step one, not the finish line. Here is what comes next, in order, so nothing catches you at resumption.

1. Print your JAMB admission letter from the JAMB e-Facility portal. Your school will ask for it at clearance.

As at 24 August 2026, the official JAMB CAPS dashboard showed 120,558 cumulative admissions and 47,934 accepted admissions. The figures move during the day, so use the dashboard as a live snapshot rather than a final total.

If the message says “Admission in progress”, your case is still moving. “Recommended” means the institution has proposed you and JAMB is reviewing it. “Not admitted” means no offer is available yet. Keep checking during the admission window and complete any outstanding O level upload or institution screening requirement.
